TROY, Mich. -

Troy police arrested a Pontiac woman suspected of driving drunk after a six-mile-long chase on Interstate 75.

Troy officers involved in speed enforcement last Thursday morning saw a southbound car driving in excess of 85-miles-per-hour.  As the officers approached the car, they said it swerved out of its lane before pulling over.

As officers approached the car, it sped off. Police gave chase and eventually four police cars were able to box in the suspect vehicle to force it to stop without striking any vehicle.

Officers reported four children in the back seat, between 5 and 13 years of age.  A male passenger was in the front seat.  The 32-year-old woman behind the wheel, identified as Shemika Shanee Allen, was tested for a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit.

She is facing charges of drunken driving, child endangerment, fleeing from police and operating without a license.

Allen also had an outstanding warrant for an earlier drunken driving arrest.
