Pontiac residents without water for days after main break

Some residents without water for 3 days

PONTIAC, Mich. – Contractors for the Oakland County Water Resources Commission (OCWRC) dug through the frozen ground Tuesday in Pontiac attempting to restore water to some residents who have been without it for three days.

"In this Pontiac neighborhood, it's the leads," said Craig Covey, assistant to the Oakland County water resources commissioner. "Every home has its own lead from the water meter in the basement out to the street."

For three weeks, the OCWRC has been working to replace infrastructure. Some of the water mains are more than 100 years old.

"The frost is deep. In some area it's 50 inches deep," said Vince DeAngelo, of DeAngelo Brothers. "Getting through the frost is the toughest part."

Some residents have been without water for days.

"I called the office," Sandra Murray said. "They said we're 15th on the list."
