Police are searching for a 40-year-old Detroit man who ambushed his ex-girlfriend and dowsed her with gasoline.

Police say Jermaine Thomas was waiting for his ex-girlfriend inside her apartment building on 9 Mile Road on June 8th.

The victim told police when she walked toward the door Thomas came out of the laundry room and threw gasoline on her. Thomas then walked toward her with a lighter. The victim ran out of the apartment building, jumped into her car and drove directly to the police department.

Thomas is currently on parole for a 2008 assault conviction for a previous attack on the same victim. He is now wanted by police for attempted murder.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts should call the Ferndale Police (248-541-3650) or Crimestoppers.

There is a $1000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
