WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

A 21-year-old Troy man was arrested in connection with the robbery of a Fifth Third Bank on Van Dyke in Washington Township on Tuesday.

Police say just before 1:30 p.m. Flavio Golemi walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding cash and implying he had weapon.

The teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and Golemi fled the bank. Bank employees gave police a description of the robber, including what he was wearing.

Within 15 minutes a patrol sergeant noticed a person matching the description at a gas station down the road from the bank. Police matched the suspect with images taken off bank surveillance and Golemi was arrested.

Police say some of the stolen bank money was found in the center console of his car. No weapon was found

Golemi was arraigned in 42nd District Court of Romeo and charged with bank robbery.
