DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – A peacock that was wandering the streets of Dearborn Heights for weeks has been rescued. Workers from the Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary caught the peacock Wednesday afternoon.

The bird was not really causing any problems but he's been surprising homeowners in the neighborhood when he shows up to hang out.

"It's just a beautiful bird up on my roof," said Sandy Vanassche earlier this month. "There have been sightings this week. I knew it existed."

The peacock normally lives in the courtyard of Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn. However, because of construction at the school it flew away. The school had been trying to get the peacock back. However, efforts to do so were unsuccessful until Wednesday.
