More than 200 gather for vigil of slain 2-year-old girl in Inkster

2-year-old Kamiya Goss killed in Inkster triple shooting

INKSTER, Mich. – More than 200 people gathered a vigil to remember little Kamiya Goss, who was one of three people shot Tuesday night outside an Inkster apartment complex. She's the only one who did not survive.

A second person has been arrested in connection with the triple shooting. That person is said to be the driver of the getaway car.

The accused shooter, 26-year-old Raymone Jackson appeared in court Thursday afternoon and was charged with first-degree murder.

It was more like a church service at the vigil Thursday night, with soulful singing and a fiery sermon.

Erica Gross cried out for her baby girl, Kamiya.

"I never could have imagined this. My heart is gone. Heart is heavy," said Gross. "Never wanted to know what this felt like. Everybody please love your kids."

Hundreds gathered at the spot where baby Kamiya was shot and killed. The mayor of Inkster is calling for peace.

"We will push these evil actors out of here," the mayor said.

A community rocked with violence is now coming together hand in hand, consoling the girl's mother and each other, praying for healing, yet still questioning how could anyone walk up to a 2-year-old baby and shoot her.

"We're standing here with tears in our eyes because of one idiot," one person said.

"For the one who did it. I hope I get justice for my baby," said Gross.
