RAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

Michigan State Police are investigating after an 83-year-old woman who was reported missing was found dead Thursday.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a person who was walking down Teller Road saw an older woman lying next to an SUV that was stuck in the ditch, according to MSP.

The witness called 911 and responding EMS declared the woman, identified as 83-year-old Anne Lumetta Burns, from the Village of Romeo, dead at the scene.

Police said Burns was reported missing Tuesday at the Romeo Police Department by her family after she failed to return from an income tax appointment.

At this time there are no indications of suspicious or criminal actions associated to this incident, police said.

Troopers are continuing to investigate this incident.
