Michigan State Police recruiting interested applicants

TAYLOR, Mich. -

The Michigan State Police held a special testing opportunity for interested applicants in Detroit at Mumford High School Feb. 15 in an effort to recruit a diverse pool of applicants.

The MSP gave interested applicants the opportunity to take the Entry Level Law Enforcement Exam, a trooper and motor carrier orientation and the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Physical Fitness Test. Eighty-nine applicants signed up for the event; 40 applicants arrived at Mumford High School to take the exam and 39 applicants stayed to take the physical fitness test.

The MSP will continue to hold Trooper and Motor Carrier Officer orientations across the state. At the beginning of the year-the MSP unveiled a new recruiting campaign, "ENFORCE, INVESTIGATE and SERVE," aimed at attracting candidates interested in a career with the MSP.

The MSP 126th Trooper Recruit School is underway with 113 recruits. Another trooper recruit school is anticipated to begin in June 2014, and a third in Jananuary 2015.
