DETROIT -

MDOT will begin resurfacing more than five miles of M-1 Tuesday.

The construction will happen between 14 Mile Road and Oakridge Boulevard in Pleasant Ridge.

Among improvements to road, the $4.8 million investment will feature sidewalk improvements compliant with the Americans and Disabilities Act.

To minimize the impact of the construction on commuters, lane closures will be restricted to overnight during the weekdays and all times on weekends.

The construction will be suspended during big event times such as Arts, Beats and Eats and the Woodward Dream Cruise.

Median crossovers will also be closed during times of construction and traffic will be detoured to the next available crossover.

The project is expected to be complete in November.
