Sean Quigley faces charges of terrorism and kidnapping for allegedly threatening to have a bomb while taking the Westland mayor's secretary hostage on Monday.

WESTLAND, Mich. -

A man is facing charges of terrorism and kidnapping for allegedly threatening to have bombs while taking the Westland mayor's secretary hostage on Monday.

Sean Quigley is also charged with false threat of terrorism and the false report of a bomb threat.

Westland police said Quigley stormed into Westland City Hall and demanded to see Mayor William Wild.

When Wild's secretary told him the mayor was away at a funeral, Quigley allegedly took her captive and engaged in a standoff with police and bomb squad officials.

The secretary was eventually able to escape unharmed and Quigley was taken into custody.

Police said no explosives were ever found.

Wild was at the funeral for fallen Westland firefighter Brian Woehlke.
