DETROIT -

A 60-year-old man who says he spent most of the past 40 years behind bars brought knives into Detroit federal court to kill his probation officer and a judge.

According to a criminal complaint, Timothy Daniels was arrested Monday after getting through security with two knives in his jeans.

Daniels told authorities that he changed his mind about killing the judge and probation officer, but had "wanted to go back to prison" because his life in a halfway house "was not going well." He was just released from prison in February.

Daniels is now charged with possession of a dangerous weapon in a federal facility.
