LENOX TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

A 42-year-old Lenox Township man has been arrested on charges he hit his step-child with a broom.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a 911 call from a home on Place Road Wednesday and found two children, ages 8 and 13, with their step-father -- Avila Vigneau.

Deputies said Vigneau admitted to hitting the 13-year-old with a broom because he was upset with the children's behavior.

Deputies said they noticed bruises on the victim.

Vigneau is charged with felonious assault.
