Man arraigned in hit-and-run crash in Center Line

Anthony Nicholaus Smith charged in death of 62-year-old woman

CENTER LINE, Mich. – This past Thursday night, 62-year-old Olimba Losha was pronounced dead at the hospital after being killed by a hit-and-run driver in Center Line.

Anthony Nicholaus Smith was arraigned on Monday on the charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort involving several police agencies and information provided by a tipster.

A vehicle was seized, which is said to be the only vehicle involved in the fatal hit and run accident. The vehicle was turned over to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab. A suspect driver was developed and subsequently identified as Smith, who was arrested on outstanding warrants and brought in for questioning.

Based on evidence at the scene and subsequent evidence collected, Smith was charged by Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Further investigatory work and evidentiary analysis will be continuning in the case.
