The Macomb County Circuit Court Building located at 40 N. Main Street in Mt. Clemens is closed until 1:30 p.m. Thursday due to a bomb threat

The Macomb County Circuit Courthouse has reopened following an early morning bomb threat.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said that shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday the County Clerk’s Office received the first of three phone calls during which time a male caller stated that there was a bomb in the building.

Two Macomb Sheriff "bomb" dogs were called in to perform a floor-by-floor search of the building.  They were assisted by a K-9 from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and another from the Michigan State Police.

After a thorough search, the building was deemed safe (at 12:35pm). Normal daily operations were restored by 2 p.m.

The Sheriff's Department is investigating.
