Martha Reeves receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

She is already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Vandellas

Martha Reeves has received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It was truly a collective effort that led to this momentous occasion.

Reeves, with the support of her community, crowdfunded the necessary $75,000 to secure her star. She is already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Vandellas, which was formed in Detroit in 1957.

They achieved success with Berry Gordy and Motown Records in the 1960′s with chart topping hits:

  • Heat Wave (1963)
  • Quicksand (1963)
  • Dancing in the Street (1964)
  • Nowhere to Run (1965)
  • I’m Ready for Love (1966)
  • Jimmy Mack (1967)

On Wednesday (March 27), Local 4 witnessed the culmination of Reeves’ journey as her star was unveiled, accompanied by Motown’s resounding voices, including Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson.
