Lapeer man drowns after diving off boat Saturday

Alcohol, shallow water believed to be factors

LAPEER, Mich. – Clarence Reynolds, a 56-year-old man from Lapeer County, drowned Saturday evening after diving into the water from his boat headfirst. Reynolds was with a friend when he dove into the water, and when he didn't resurface his friend immediately called 911.

A dive team responded to the call in the Holloway Reservoir in front of 5351 Mt. Morris Road in Oregon Township at around 5:30 p.m. Reynolds was found in the water at around 7:45 p.m.

Alcohol and shallow water are believed to have been factors in the man's drowning.

The incident is under investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office.
