Identity theft can strike anyone, are you prepared?

Local 4's Shawn Ley revels how he almost became a victim of identify theft and how you can protect yourself.

DETROIT -

You may want to pay closer attention to your personal information.

About 15 million people in the United States have their identities stolen each year.

Those financial loses total more than $50 billion.

On average, it costs an identity theft victim about $3,500.
