DETROIT – The Heidelberg Project said Tuesday it had finished installing a solar-powered security system.

In the past year, the art installation in Detroit has been hit by several arsons that have claimed six houses.

In a statement, the project said the new surveillance system has at least 10 cameras, a centralized DVR with remote monitoring and solar panel streetlights.

Tyree Guyton founded the project in 1986 as a response to urban decay. The sculpture park mixes vacant houses and empty yards with artistic themes.
