DETROIT -

The Michigan Department of Community Health recently sent letters to 49,000 people alerting them that hackers got their hands on some of their personal information.

The hackers were able to get names, social security numbers and date of birth, but no addresses or phone numbers.A

department spokesperson told Local 4 the hacking happened while that information was on the website of a private company and that information has now been secured.

If you are one of the people who received one of those letters and would like to share your story, please contact our consumer unit at  ruthtotherescue@clickondetroit.com

And, look for further coverage tonight, staring at 5 p.m.
