DETROIT -

Four young girls on their way to school in Detroit on Wednesday had to take a detour because of a scare with a stranger.

It happened near the intersection of Fullerton Street and Ewald Circle. But the girls say it wasn’t the first time the stranger has approached them.

Wednesday’s incident was the second time this week that a man approached them while they were on their way to school at Noble Elementary.

The girls, ages 13, 12, 6 and 5, weren’t harmed, but reported that the man asked them questions.

The sister of one of the girls told Local 4 the girls ignored the man and ran away.

“My two nieces and my little sister were terrified for the life today,” the sister said. “What if he had a gun? What if he had a knife? What if he grab one of us.”

Police said they are investigating and described the man as 5 feet 10 inches tall, heavy-set with dark skin and between 35 and 45 years old. He was wearing a burgundy sweater.
