Former Taylor fire chief files whistleblower lawsuit

TAYLOR, Mich. -

Former Taylor Fire Chief Bob Tompos has filed a whistleblower lawsuit in federal court claiming he was wrongfully fired.

Tompos says he was fired after telling Mayor Jeffrey Lamarand the department's fire gear was out of date and cuts to the department would slow response times.

Tompos also claims he was retaliated against for talking to the media about his concerns.

Tompos was fired in April.
