Ford remembered for dedication to Detroit

DETROIT – Beyond his work and legacy in the automotive world, William Clay Ford is being remembered for his dedication to Detroit.

From bringing a Super Bowl to Ford Field, to helping fund medical breakthroughs at Henry Ford Hospital, he truly left his mark.

The Ford family name is all over the city, from Ford Field to the Henry Ford Museum and the William Clay Ford Center for Athletic Medicine.

And Ford himself was either responsible for the birth of many of these great institutions or was dedicated to carrying on the work done by previous generations.

Local 2 spoke Sunday with former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer. He remembers the great pride Ford had in bringing his Detroit Lions back to the Motor City and into the stadium bearing the family name.

Ford, like his father and his grandfather, was a dedicated Detroiter, focused on making sure institutions like the DIA and Henry Ford Hospital remained world-class facilities.

Ford spent his life helping others and his community and at the end of his life he was surrounded by his loved ones in his Grosse Pointe Shore home.
