Federal agents are trying to find a man suspected of aggravated identity theft.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations is asking for the public's help to identify him.
The man, who is shown on surveillance video, allegedly used the identity of several Metro Detroit residents to withdraw cash from area banks. He used legitimate identifications modified with his photo. He has been seen in several Macomb County, Oakland County and Wayne County banks making cash withdrawals.
He is described by agents as being a slender black man who is about 6 feet tall, weighs around 160 pounds and is in his mid to late 60s. He sometimes wears corrective eye glasses and occasionally walks with the help of a cane. The cane is suspected by police to be a ruse.
Although his exact whereabouts are unknown, agents believe he resides in Metro Detroit.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Homeland Security Investigations immediately, in one of three ways:
- Call HSI Detroit at 313-226-0500
- Call the HSI tip line at 1-866-347-2423
- Submit a tip online at http://www.ice.gov/exec/forms/hsi-tips/tips.asp
Agents ask the public not to attempt to apprehend the man.
