Farmington police step up patrols in apartment complex after stranger danger

Teen unharmed when man tries talking to her in Chatham Hills

Police in Farmington are stepping up patrol after they said a strange man approached a teen as she walked to the bus stop Friday morning.

Police said the teen, described only as high school aged, was walking around 7 a.m. in the Chatham Hills apartment complex, which is off Grand Rive Avenue between Drake and Halsted roads, when the man got out of parked car and started trying to talk to her. He was in a gray, newer model sports car, possibly a Dodge Challenger.

Police said the man asked the student to go with him, but she ignored him and kept walking.

The man eventually drove off.

Police have released this description of the man: black, mid to late 30s, medium build, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, had some facial hair.
