SOUTHGATE, Mich. – Looking at old pictures, this family was going through all the wonderful moments they shared with Frank King over the last 39 years.
"Frank was a great guy. He was a great father. He had a beautiful smile. He loved the world. Loved his kids. He never did anything to harm anybody in this world," said King's brother-in-law, Joe Lambert.
The family would like so much just to remember how this father of five lived rather than how he died. But they can't do that with so many unanswered questions about what happened on Northline Road in Southgate last Friday night.
King was struck by a minivan as he crossed the street. The driver kept his foot on the gas as King laid helpless on the side of the road.
"It makes you think could they have helped. Is there anything they could have done if they would have stopped?" said Joe Lambert.
Police are looking for a dark colored Chevrolet Astro minivan, possibly black or dark blue. The model could be from 1986 to 1996. The minivan should have front end damage from the crash.
As this family makes arrangements to say their final goodbyes to Frank, they're hoping the driver will come forward or someone will turn the person into police.
His five children, ages 5 to 17, desperately want to know who took their father away from them and why they didn't even care enough to stop.
"Confess already because it's too hard," said Alexis King, Frank's daughter.
"It's really hard to rest and let my brother be in peace until we know what happened to him," said Frank's sister, Melinda
