A Detroit woman says her dog was stolen from inside her car as she shopped Wednesday.

DETROIT -

A Detroit woman said her dog was stolen from inside her car as she shopped in Detroit.

The woman told police her car was parked at Jefferson and Coplin when someone broke into her vehicle and snatched her 3 pound Yorkshire Terrier.

The dog's owner told Local 4 that Max has been a part of her family for three years. She said, "I've had Max since he was ten weeks old. He is like my son. I just want my dog back." She said, "I don't know what they were thinking when they took him. He's only three pounds. He is helpless"

Nothing else from the car was taken.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit police.
