Detroit police: Man walks home after being shot in face at bus stop

DETROIT – Detroit police say a man was shot in the face early Monday morning at a bus stop and walked all the way home so his wife could drive him to the hospital.

The 44-year-old victim was shot just before 5 a.m. at a stop near Harper Avenue and Morang Drive, which is in front of a post office branch.

Police said the gunman didn't rob the victim and took off after the shooting. The victim then walked a few blocks to his home, leaving a trail of blood behind.

Local 4 spoke with the victim's wife off camera. She said he's an Army veteran who takes the bus regularly to his job as a security guard. The wife said her husband is in critical condition and she plans on spending as much time as she can at his bedside. The couple's second wedding anniversary is Wednesday.

Police said they think the shooting was random.
