Missing 7-week-old baby found safe

Police searched for cousin accused of taking boy

DETROIT – A 7-week-old boy who was last seen by his grandmother Tuesday evening has been found safe.

Detroit police said Ziairr Ryles's grandmother dropped him off with a cousin to visit friends. The cousin, 21-year-old Quaiana Kailee Taylor, brought Ziairr into an apartment complex but never arrived at the apartment, police said.

Police were searching for Taylor who was accused of taking Ziairr. There were two phone calls from her stating her intention to return the baby, "but when the mother of the child inquired about her whereabouts, the suspect hung up and turned her phone off," police said.

"Bring my baby home," said Ziairr's mother, Shelvontae Monroe. "Drop him off and keep it moving. I just want my baby back. He's 7 weeks old, he needs his mom. He eats, sleeps and breaths with his mom."

Ziairr was found safe Wednesday evening. He was later reunited with his mother.
