A 93-year-old man and his 40-year-old grandson were beaten during a home invasion on the city’s west side last Friday.
Walter Seczerba and his grandson, Walter Collett, told Local 4 they were sleeping at 5:30 a.m. when two young men kicked in the side door of their home on Westwood.
"They were holding me down. They hit me five times," Seczerba said.
Both men suffered back and head injuries from being hit with 2-by-4 piece of wood.
“Oh, the injuries, they’re awful. Cuts, bruises, stitches to my grandfather and my brother,” Ethel Collett told Local 4 News.
Both men were hospitalized but have since been released.
$200 was taken during the robbery.
“Who would attack a 94 year old man?” Collett wants to know.
Police want to know as well. They’re looking for two African-American men in their 20s who were dressed in all black.
They’re asking anyone with information to call Detroit Police or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
