Detroit is helping residents beat the heat

City offering cooling centers

DETROIT – The city of Detroit is helping residents beat the heat after the National Weather Service has placed the city under an extreme heat advisory from noon until midnight. They are expecting for temperatures to hit the mid 90's, and the heat index could even climb to 105 degrees.

Experts say to prepare for extreme heat by covering windows with drapes, install air conditioners, keep up with weather forecast and drink plenty of water.
They also advise to check on those family members, elderly, young and sick neighbors because they are at a higher risk.

Detroit has a list of cooling centers to help residents stay cool during the advisory. The following locations will be open from 12pm until 8pm today and tomorrow.
