Detroit police are trying to find the gunman who shot and killed a security guard who had stepped in to stop a carjacking in the parking lot of a CVS.

A security guard was shot and killed Wednesday night while trying to stop a carjacking in the parking lot outside a CVS Pharmacy at McNichols Road and Schaefer Highway in Detroit.

The guard was shot in the neck as the suspect fled the parking lot in the stolen vehicle.

Police found the vehicle a few blocks away but are still searching for the suspect who is described as a black man in his late 20s.

The security guard, who was on duty at the CVS, noticed two men trying to rob and carjack someone in the parking lot. The guard, who was armed, ran out of the store to try to intervene. That's when one of the suspects shot him in the neck.

Police are searching for at least two suspects in the neighborhood.
