Deputies investigate body found in water at Dunbar Quarry

52-year-old man found dead in 16-feet of water

MONROE TWP., Mich. – The Monroe County Sheriff's Department responded to an abandoned vehicle run Sunday afternoon.

Deputies found the vehicle parked along Hull Road near the Dunbar Quarry in Monroe Township.

There was no one inside the vehicle when the arrived.

According to the sheriff's department, deputies checked the area near the vehicle and found clothes, keys and a wallet belonging to the registered owner of the vehicle.

Those items were located near the edge of large amount of water in the quarry.

The registered vehicle owner's family was contacted and they informed the department that they had no recent contact with their loved one.

The Monroe Sheriff's Department dive team was called to the scene.

According to the department, within minutes, divers recovered the body of Bruce A. Chamberlain, age 52, of Monroe.

He was removed from 16-feet of water near the southeast portion of the quarry.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.  Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Monroe Sheriff Department.
