TROY, Mich. -

In a special election held Tuesday, Troy voters selected Dane Slater to become the city's new mayor.

Back in November, voters recalled then-mayor Janice Daniels. Slater was then appointed temporary mayor.

The temporary title can be removed now that voters have shown their support for Slater.

Slater received just more than 50 percent of the vote -- 6,393 votes. Marty Knollenberg finished second in the polls with 45.88 percent of the vote -- 5,820 votes.
