Dad eats daughter's pot brownies, thinks he's having stroke

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – It was Wednesday night in a quiet neighborhood along Deer Lake Road in Independence Township when police say a 58-year-old man ate one of his 17-year-old daughter's brownies.

Then, something didn't feel right.

"The father thought he was having a stroke," said Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe.

The man was briefly hospitalized and is doing OK. McCabe says the girl told police she got some pot from a friend and baked it in the brownies.

"She put them in the kitchen but didn't expect anyone to eat them," he said.

Oakland County's narcotics officers were interviewing the girl at Clarkston High School on Thursday. Of the many questions -- was this just an accident?

"I don't know about you, but when my wife bakes some brownies and leaves them out, they're there for someone to eat," said McCabe.

Police say the brownies did test positive for marijuana. This young lady could be toking up some trouble.

"If it comes back as marijuana or something else, it's going to the prosecutor. She's 17 and an adult in the eyes of the law," said McCabe. "She's not going to get it light, no. This will be a lesson for her and everybody else."
