PLYMOUTH, Mich. – The city of Plymouth is no longer under a boil water alert.
The city experienced three water main breaks during the overnight hours causing parts of the water system to lose pressure.

Pressure in the system has been restored and crews have repaired the water main breaks.
This was a precautionary measure as a result of the city's water system pressure loss.
The boil water advisory could not have been lifted until a 24-hour independent lab test was completed to insure the safety of the drinking water, the city says.
The boil water alert was for the city of Plymouth only and did not include Plymouth Township.
Schools closed Thursday because of the water main breaks:
- Smith Elementary
- Our Lady of Good Counsel
- East Middle School
- Central Middle School
What should you do during a boil water advisory?
Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food.
Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Continue using boiled or bottled water until further notice.
