Cigarette thief strikes twice in Madison Heights

Police say thief only took Marlboro, Newport cartons from Detroit Donuts on Stephenson Highway

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Madison Heights police are looking for a cigarette thief who has struck a donut shop twice.

Police said it appears the same man robbed Detroit Donuts, which is part of a gas station at the corner of 12 Mile and Stephenson Highway, on Jan. 29 and Feb. 5.

In both break-ins, police said, the laminate glass to the front door was broken out by the thief.

Police said the thief took only cartons of Marlboro and Newport cigarettes, and nothing else.

The only description released by police is that the thief is an a white man of average height and build. He was wearing a mask and hat, gloves, blue jeans and an oversized dark blue jacket with a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath.

Police said the thief may have been driving a minivan.
