WARREN, Mich. -

There was no water service for residents in one Warren neighborhood Christmas night because of a water main break.

Water flooded the streets in the area of Geraldine and Lorraine streets, near Van Dyke and 12 Mile Roads.

About 100 residents of homes and an apartment complex in the area were left without water service. The break happened just after the dinner hour, and several homeowners rushed out to get bottled water to get them through the evening.

Residents of that neighborhood have had similar experiences recently. That same area was hit by a water main break just one month ago.

The pipe that burst was plastic, which is more prone to breaking in cold Michigan weather.

The City of Warren Water Division crews hope to have repairs completed by Thursday morning.
