DETROIT -

Bob Bashara pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges he's facing in connection with his wife's murder.

Bashara is facing a slew of charges, including first-degree murder, perjury, witness intimidation and conspiracy for the death of Jane.

During his arraignment, Bashara told the judge he was trying to raise funds to get an attorney. The judge told Bashara that if he didn't have one by his May 7 preliminary hearing, one would be appointed for him.

His bond was also remanded.

Jane Bashara's body was found in her Mercedes-Benz SUV that was left in a Detroit alley in January 2012.

A handyman, Joseph Gentz, pleaded guilty to strangling her, saying he did so under orders from Bob Bashara.

Bashara is already in prison after being convicted for trying to hire a hit man to kill Gentz while Gentz was in the Wayne County jail.
