LINCOLN PARK, Mich. -

One woman was rushed to the hospital after an apartment explosion in Lincoln Park.

Lincoln Park Police and Fire responded to the 4100 block of Longtin Avenue just after 10 Saturday morning. The apartment was completely destroyed.

Ian Jezylo lives across the street. He said he blast came as a shock.

"It was a huge explosion. I thought a tree had fallen on our house," Jezylo said. "It was so powerful, it actually knocked my front door open."

Jezylo said he heard the victim's cry for help as he looked across the street.

"I looked across the street and I saw smoke rising. I yelled back to my wife to call 911 and at that time she actually jumped out," Jezylo said.

Jezylo rushed to aid the woman and could see how badly she was injured.

"She was severely burned and I didn't want to touch her. I told her to remain calm, to lay still. Help was on the way," Jezylo said.

DTE energy confirms that they are investigating the cause of the explosion.

The woman was transported to a local hospital.
