American Airlines flight from Detroit to New York lands safely after being struck by lightning

An American Airlines flight from Detroit to New York landed safely Wednesday after being struck by lightning.

The airline confirmed that Flight 4563, which had 20 passengers and three crewmembers on it, was hit as it approached LaGuardia Airport but landed without incident just before 11 a.m.

A maintenance team is inspecting the Emrbraer 135.
