A year after bombs disrupted the end of the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring dozens, runners and spectators once again flocked to the streets of Boston for the 2014 race on Monday morning.
This year's race was expected to have 9,000 more runners than last year's, and an unprecedented crowd is expected to gather, according to CNN.
With 36,000 runners expect to participate, it will be the second largest field in the marathon's history, according to Reuters.
