CENTER LINE, Mich. -

A 35-year-old woman was rushed to a hospital Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle on Van Dyke Avenue at Helen Street.

The woman is in very serious condition. The road was shut down for several hours after the incident.

Police said alcohol wasn't a factor for the driver. However, a bottle of vodka was found near the woman's shoes on the road.

The driver was traveling northbound when the woman crossed Van Dyke Avenue. The driver stopped and was talking to police.

Police do not believe the driver is at fault. The woman appears to have wandered into traffic.
