ROYAL OAK, Mich. -

An 80-year-old woman has died from injuries she suffered in a house fire last week in Royal Oak.

The fire happened Friday morning in the 900 block of Center Street.

Royal Oak Fire Chief Chuck Thomas said the woman and a man were rushed to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

The man suffered only minor injuries.

Their names have not yet been released.

Thomas said the fire was easily put out and the home wasn’t heavily damaged.

The cause is still under investigation but Thomas said it appears the fire started in the home's kitchen.
