Two counties have identified the virus

Hot and dry weather conditions may to be to blame for the West Nile virus, which has been identified in two counties.

A mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile virus in Saginaw County. And a wild turkey showed neurological signs and tested positive for the virus in Washtenaw County.

The findings confirm the virus is in mosquitoes and birds in the state and presents a clear risk to human health.

As a precaution, use insect repellent and remove mosquito breeding water from around your home.
