DETROIT – A Wayne County judge on Wednesday lifted the civil contempt order against the Ambassador Bridge owners.
Judge Prentis Edwards said the Detroit International Bridge Co. has been complying with his orders to turn over the Gateway Project to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The decision means Matty Moroun, his son and bridge company president Dan Stamper no longer have the threat of being jailed or have to attend more hearings in the case.
In January, Edwards put 84-year-old billionaire Moroun and Stamper in jail for contempt of court for failing to follow orders on the project, which includes connecting the bridge with Canada to area interstates. They were released by the Michigan appeals court.

Edwards ordered DIBC create a fund to pay for the construction, but the construction is being handled by MDOT.
