WARREN, Mich. -

The Warren Mayor's Office says due to a power outage in the city's downtown area City Hall is closed as of 3:45 p.m. Monday.

Mayor Jim Fouts' office says the City Hall is operating on the backup generator.

DTE Energy says power is expected to be restored shortly.

When the power went out, a power surge caused problems at City Hall. Elevators, computers, lighting and the HVAC system were all affected, the Mayor's Office says.

The Civic Center Library also is without power.
