DETROIT – The United Way for Southeastern Michigan kicked off a $35 million fundraising campaign Friday morning by lighting the United Way torch in downtown Detroit.
The 50-foot tall torch sits across from the Spirit of Detroit on the median of Woodward Avenue. It has been out of commission for the last 5 years.
