Green Oak Township, Mich. -

Two people are in the hospital following an overnight crash in Green Oak Township that closed US 23 for two hours.

The accident happened just after 3am Tuesday on US 23 south of Lee Road. A jeep wrangler was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with another vehicle.

The wrong-way driver, a 25 year old female from Brighton, was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where she is being treated for significant injuries.

The other driver, a 25-year-old male from Highland, was trapped inside his vehicle. Firefighters were able to free him and he was transported by helicopter to a local hospital where he is being treated for significant injuries.

The accident is still under investigation, but police believe alcohol was a factor.
