Judge Wade McCree wrote a 38-page-response to the Tenure Commission's accusations last month. In it McCree started to be sexually involved with Geniene La'Shay Mott in June 2012. The affair began while Mott's case was pending in McCree's courtroom. McCree stateed he would occasionally bring Mott into the courthouse through the building's back entrance, which was reserved for judges and courthouse staff. But, McCree said, Mott never had "uninhabited access to the courthouse and that the courthouse was never in any danger because Mott was there.

McCree said his relationship with Mott didn't influence his judicial conduct or judgment regarding the King case, but that he "likely violated" a conduct code by not removing himself from the case.

McCree also said he is the victim of "stalking and extortion" by Mott.

In October, the state Supreme Court reprimanded McCree for sending a shirtless photo of himself to a court employee.
