Travel back to normal at Detroit Metro Airport

Flights in and out of Detroit Metro Airport are back to normal after two consecutive days of cancellations or delays.
High winds in Metro Detroit and snowy conditions around the country caused the travel problems. Some travelers at the airport scrambled to make new arrangements, renting cars or riding buses to their destinations.
Nearly 50 flights to and from the airport were cancelled Friday. Eighty-seven flights were delayed for more than 45 minutes.
Still, Friday was a smoother day than Thursday. The airlines cancelled flights earlier, and alerted travelers before they came to the airport.
Airport officials remind drivers picking up loved ones to park in cellphone waiting lots. That helps reduce congestion outside the terminal.
People are also urged to call or go online for information about the status of flights and TSA security rules. They also should avoid bringing wrapped gifts.
